Security
software purchases in Europe have undergone more stringent
evaluation processes and depend more on return-on-investment
(ROI). But calculating ROI for security solutions
has always been more difficult than for other markets
as it is almost impossible to build a standard ROI
model. Each organization will have its own unique
security needs based on size and key assets.
Although
vendors have now developed ROI studies relating to
the list of services they offer, client references
have gained in importance as way of proving ROI. Total
cost of ownership is also increasing in importance
as a key factor in the decision-making process.
What
do your peers consider an “acceptable”
ROI for security software? What criteria do they consider
important in their evaluation processes? What do Gartner
analysts recommend?
