One
of a number of ways is to examine current software
licenses for opportunities to eliminate and renegotiate
current agreements.
Enterprises
of all sizes are seeking to reduce software
costs. Are you paying
for software licenses that
you aren't using? Are you supporting applications
that no longer provide value to the business? Can
your software packages be replaced by lower-cost
alternatives? Is your software vendor willing to
renegotiate a more favorable price? Asking these
questions can result in cost savings. Although
MSBs do not have as much leverage with vendors
as large
enterprises do, they can still successfully renegotiate
savings of 10 percent to 25 percent. For the largest
hardware and software deals, MSBs should consider
hiring a professional negotiator.
