George
Evans, CIO of Lexington Medical Center,
was named IT Executive of the Year, and honored
by his peers and technology vendors at an Awards
Ceremony on September 12, 2003 at the Renaissance
Austin Hotel in Austin, Texas. The selection
was based on Evans’ contributions to the
overall development and success of Midsize Enterprise
Summit and his dedication to promoting networking
among IT professionals within healthcare and
across industries. In addition to his experience
with Gartner, George is an active member of
both national and regional chapters of the Health
Information and Management Systems Society.
The
Lexington Medical Center system includes a 292-bed
acute care hospital, an MSO with 60 employed
physicians, 6 community medical centers, an
Alzheimer’s facility and a 350 bed nursing
home, the largest in South Carolina. The Center
sees approximately 75,000 patients a year in
the ED, over 300,000 in our physician’s
